Text Box: This is the 7th year of A Mystic Weekend of Rowing, an event that promotes the sport of rowing in a community environment,  supported by the National Rowing Foundation, Mystic Seaport, the Mystic Arts Center, sponsors and advertisers.
A Mystic Weekend of Rowing is two days of exciting rowing on the Mystic River.
Saturday the races of the Battle Between the Bridges Invitational Regatta, Saturday September 19th may be viewed from the Mystic River Park, the historic bascule drawbridge in downtown Mystic, CT, or the lawn of the Mystic Arts Center.
The 500 meter racecourse begins north of the Amtrak railroad bridge and ends at the drawbridge in downtown Mystic. A rapid succession of exciting individual races - each about 2 minutes long.  Yale University men’s crew lightweight coach, Andy Card, will be in the park as commentator to introduce the athletes and call the races.
Sunday the rowing moves to Mystic Seaport for Coastweeks Regatta, Sunday September 20th which the Seaport hosts at its north end, on the river behind Seamen’s Inne. This event includes many local and regional rowers, in both racing and recreational shells.  Nicknamed “The People’s Regatta”  by one of its organizers, it is attended by hundreds of athletes, and all generations of rowers, from high school teams to master and veteran rowers, are represented. The 2000 meter course for the Coastweeks Regatta begins north of I-95 overpass south towards and ends in front of cheering crowds near the flagpole at Mystic Seaport.
This September weekend is a chance to see one of the most beautiful and grueling of waterborne sports in an historic waterfront setting.
